It doesn’t matter who you are, tinnitus can affect anyone. Even celebrities!
Will.I.Am suffers from constant ringing in his ears due to his tinnitus. In one interview he said that he “doesn’t know what silence sounds like anymore”.
Ozzy Osbourne said, “I suffer from permanent tinnitus because of all the headbanging I’ve done, which means I’ve got constant ringing in my ears, which has also made me somewhat deaf (or ‘conveniently deaf’, as Sharon calls it). It’s like this Wheee noise in my head all the time. Should have worn ear plugs, I guess.”
The Scottish movie star first developed tinnitus when he was just 10 years old. At the time he had to have ear surgery to reduce his symptoms.
Barbra Streisand developed tinnitus from the early age of 9. She described her experience: “I was in sixth grade when I started to hear these strange noises, and I would put scarves around my head to try to block them out. I lived with a secret. I was afraid to find out what it was”.
Beethoven’s tinnitus meant he suffered from hearing loss and eventually went completely deaf. He often complained,“my ears whistle and buzz all day and night. I can say I am leading a wretched life”.
The lead vocalist of Coldplay developed tinnitus from playing loud music with his band. He says, “looking after your ears is, unfortunately, something you don’t think about until there’s a problem. Since I started protecting my ears it hasn’t got any worse, but I wish I’d thought about it earlier”.
Blondie also developed her tinnitus due to spending years playing loud concerts with her band.
Noel Gallagher tinnitus came about after playing loud music with his band, Oasis, over the years. He says, “Without a doubt I have tinnitus. You’re not a proper rock’n’roll star if you don’t… I’m proud of it”.
The Genesis musician had to quit the music scene after suffering hearing loss due to his tinnitus. According to one interview, Phil’s tinnitus came as a result of the loud gigs he played throughout his career.
Steve Martin developed tinnitus while shooting ‘Three Amigos’ during a scene involving a shoot out. Steve said, “you get used to it, or you go insane”.
